The Recession is OVER!

Today WWD reports that according to The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index, consumers continue to grow more confident – gaining 5 points in April and reaching it’s highest level since September. Not quite where we were years ago, but I’m excited to see that we’re really getting back on our feet.

I’ve felt over this last year and a half that it wasn’t so much of a recession as it’s really more of a restructuring. Now that the dust is settling we’re really seeing who are the stars that shine and it’s the small business owners!

I especially like the mindset of this boutique owner on Larchmont in Los Angeles:

Yes! As I said, I’ve felt that way for a while!

In any case, you know how I feel about spending money (on clothes). There is no such thing as impulse shopping or returns – you buy it because you love it and you know you’ll wear it. I prefer to buy on sale, but I won’t buy just because it’s on sale. And, I’d rather shop your closet first!

Happy Consumer Confidence!

Finding Your Inner Fashionista

Submitted by on April 25, 2010 - 7:08 pm

About a month ago I started writing as Style Editor for Single Minded Women. www.singlemindedwomen.com is a fabulous resource for women – whether single, married, young or old. I’m excited to bring some more style advice to the site as we all know it’s an important part of dating, career, lifestyle, etc. We all deserve a life in STYLE!

The Series, Finding Your Inner Fashionista, was inspired by a presentation I was preparing for sponsored by my USC Alumni Group TGJALA and Nordstrom. The event was intended to show women how they can learn to create their own personal style that would rival that of their favorite celebrities! The event was a fun success, and I’ve gotten some great feedback for the articles from those of you who receive my newsletter. Click on the titles below to read through the whole series.
